Bowls that are Mixin’ it up in Milwaukee

No restaurant put the protein + rice bowl on the map quite like Chipotle with their burrito bowl concept. I mean how many “bowl” dishes did you see on menus from sit-down to quick-serve restaurants alike until Chipotle came to the scene? Probably not many unless you frequented an authentic Asian restaurant serving up hot pots, bibimbap or gyudon. But behold, we are now in 2017 and the age is upon us to deconstruct our meals and serve everything in a bowl, including but not limited to – fat burritos, slurpable smoothies and sushi. The best part? You actually feel a little healthier while eating food served in a bowl (warning: the FDA has not approved this message).

Milwaukee has started to catch on to the trend recently with new additions to the food landscape such as Bowls and FreshFin Poké. See my go-to bowl restaurants below:

FreshFin Poké

You put your right hand out, you put your right hand in, and you shake it all about. You do the tuna poké and you turn yourself around. That what it’s all about!

Bowls Restaurant

From smoothie bowls to protein-packed oatmeal bowls, and various savory noodle & rice bowls, this is my new go-to spot for every meal under the sun.

Urban Beets

Rooted in Milwaukee, this mean green vegan machine is churning out much more than just hearty juices. Their food is delicious (even for carnivores), and I highly recommend their Buddha Bowl if on the menu. (Pro tip: try out their a-matcha-zing smoothie too)

Meat on the Street

What do you get when you mix a food truck with Filipino infused meats? Heaven in a bowl (and on a stick).

Cafe Centraal

Brunch is the meal of champions. Cafe Centraal’s take on the Bibimbap Brunch Bowl is a delightful mix between brunch and Asian fusion (two of my favorite things).
